Get Involved

Our volunteers are the engine that move us forward as an organization.  Some of the most powerful stories of life transformation with our youth are driven by our volunteers. Our team is currently made up of over 40 individuals who are involved in a ton different roles and programs.  Some are forward facing with the youth and some prefer to be behind the scenes.

We want our volunteers to feel enriched and empowered as they serve others.

Why Volunteer?

Volunteering at Youth Rise can look like, mentoring, supervising, coaching, and/or teaching resume building. Take a look at our current programs below.

We are currently filling volunteer roles for all of our programs!

Fill out a volunteer form below, and we will help you find a role that best suits your passions and strengths.

If you have questions about volunteering, check out the FAQ below!

not looking to commit weekly?

There are various ways you can get involved in serving Youth Rise beyond donating financially or serving in a consistent volunteer role.

Our main areas of need are:

  1. Meal Groups — We serve a full sit-down meal to our youth every Tuesday night.  This generally is for 60-90 people and is ran out of our Millbourne location!  This is a great opportunity for a small group of friends to do together.  We always have dates open through the year so please reach out and we can get you more information.

  2. Youth Centre Enhancement — Our youth centre is always in need of upkeep.  Groups have come in to do service projects like deep-cleaning, painting, minor construction projects, etc.  If you are interested in serving this way please reach out.

  3. Special Events — These are opportunities for you to volunteer for one-off events. This could include packing bagged lunches, volunteering for clothing drives, Christmas hamper packing, community BBQ’s etc.  Reach out to learn more.

Volunteering F.A.Q.

  • Depending on your interests, you can volunteer at any one of the three locations we’re currently at.

  • The first step is filling out the leadership application form, after that a YR staff member will get in touch with you and let you know next steps. We do require all volunteers to pass a criminal record check with vulnerable sector search.

  • Yes! As a part of the orientation process we provide basic training on our philosophy for working with youth, trauma informed care and more. We have team nights and occasional retreats to keep the learning process going!

  • We ask our volunteers to commit a semester at a time. Typically September until January and February to June, however most volunteers stick around for years at a time! That being said we understand that life happens, and can be flexible.

  • Yes, we invite prospective volunteers to come to a program and see how things run! We will pair you up with someone more experienced to keep everyone safe and give you a good idea of what your experience could look like!

  • Yes! Whatever your skills there is a place for you here. We have all kinds of youth, so we need all kinds of volunteers to form meaningful connections to them.

“My reason for volunteering has a lot to do with similar things happening to me as a young person, just someone to care for you matters so much. The impact that had on me was everything. Having a place where you can go and  having that ability to give back now as an adult, knowing now how it really stays with you as you grow up. That makes me really passionate about this work now.”
